Rhino Linings

SPRAY-applied linings specialist and manufacturer Rhino Linings will be at the Queensland Mining ...

Angie Tomlinson

Rhino Linings has nearly 20 years experience in developing and providing a range of spray-applied linings that cater for nearly all applications, from ute bed liners to aggressive chemical containment.

With a wide variety of applications for the mining industry, the Rhino Linings product has been successfully applied as a maintenance lining for conveyor belting and as a cost-effective liner for older thickener and clarifier tanks.

The company’s range of products cater for high impact and wear resistance and have also found a use in the ROM areas on a number of rotary breakers and shaker tables.

The elastomeric nature of the products absorbs much of the vibration and can significantly reduce noise levels.

This aspect has been highlighted with a 61-decibel reduction in a foundry extraction system, which allowed the foundry workers to work more safely and comfortably.

Rhino Linings products have also been used in the quarrying industry to reduce wear and increase life expectancy of the tipper/haul truck bodies.

All products resolutely adhere to virtually any substrate, including steel, wood, fibreglass, concrete and rubber, and are guaranteed never to crack, peel or warp.

Traditional concrete, fibreglass, paint-like and sheet membrane products simply cannot match the flexibility and strength of Rhino Linings.

Rhino Linings has contributed to the protection of billions of dollars worth of assets worldwide and has offices in Australia, Canada, South America, the Middle East, Germany and the UK.

The company also has manufacturing centres in the United States, Europe and Australia, aligned with technical support centres, which are able to provide customers with Rhino Linings’ superior products and support services.

Rhino Linings is not a re-seller, but rather a formulator and manufacturer of its own chemical systems and application equipment.

The Rhino Holdings fully staffed ISO 9001 certified testing laboratory continually ensures its products remain at the leading edge of technology.

Rhino Linings Australasia also employs full-time technical staff to assist customers and dealers in the application of its proprietary linings.

A typical Rhino Linings Dealer can undertake automotive applications such as ute bed liners, horse floats and marine applications but can also take on large industrial applications with the same machinery.

Such applications can include treatment tanks, factory floors, water/wastewater treatment plants and mining applications in primary and secondary containment, abrasion and impact.

Rhino Linings is a trusted supplier to both the US and Australian military for corrosion protection, abrasion protection, slip resistant surfaces, blast mitigation and large-scale containment.

Product advantages verses regulatory requirements

Rhino Linings flexible, seamless and impervious linings offer an incredibly strong and easy-to-apply solution to meeting EPA requirements and will provide long-term, cost-effective protection of a company’s assets.

Considering environmental and anti-pollution regulations are becoming more onerous every year, it is becoming imperative to have options when considering projects of all magnitudes and environmental sensitivity.

Rhino Linings can provide businesses with superior containment solutions that will help satisfy regulatory obligations and reduce down time and ongoing maintenance costs.

Rhino Linings products meet stringent new US Environmental Protection Agency secondary containment regulations and are certified for use in potable water applications.

In addition, the products comply with US Food and Drug Administration regulations for food grade materials and have Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service (AQIS) approval for export food grade materials.

Able to withstand vehicular traffic, high impact and moving substrates, Rhino Linings is the answer to all containment issues.

Special formulations provide superior primary chemical containment solutions even at elevated temperatures.

Rhino Linings’ unique systems are spray applied or poured using the company’s propriety systems and techniques to meet the needs of a project.

From spraying waterproof liners in a tank to pouring abrasion/impact liner panels, Rhino Linings has the product and application equipment required.

Rhino Linings products have been used on tanks around the world as solutions against chemical and gaseous attacks such as at wastewater treatment plants.

The elastomeric nature of the products allows for settlement and structural cracking to occur without the inevitable cracking and water loss prevalent with other systems.

Add to this a high chemical resistance and the benefits of Rhino Linings for bunding and secondary containment are obvious.

Not just a tank liner

From pedestrian walkways, forklift work areas and general warehousing/ workshops, Rhino Linings provides a longer lasting and more durable surface.

Using the company’s in-house system, most floors can gain a V or R12 slip resistance rating and proprietary aliphatic systems provide colourfastness for commercial flooring applications.

Bins, chutes and ROM hoppers can also benefit from a Rhino Linings application.

Recently NSW Railways’ maintenance division applied Rhino Linings TUFF STUFF to the inside of a bin that had suffered from continual impact and wear damage to Bisalloy plates that took the machine out of service every 15 to 20 hours.

This application has now more than doubled the in-service time and eliminated the costly down time.

Fire retardant formulations are also available for those areas where the risk of flame and smoke are a major problem.

Application advantages

Being spray applied with instant curing, Rhino Linings provides a seamless, impervious containment lining to any thickness in just one application.

Pipe work, fittings and support structures are easily incorporated into the lining, eliminating seams and overlap joins, and guaranteeing the liner’s integrity.

Being a plural component low-pressure spray system, with a gel time of less than 15 seconds and a tack free time of just minutes, down time costs are reduced dramatically.

As the products can be sprayed to any thickness (from 2mm to 50mm) in one operation there is no time lost to recoat windows. In most cases the plant can be returned to operation the following day.

When visiting QME 2006 in July, drop by the Rhino Linings stand (9138) and take a look at some product samples, look over the information available and discuss your project work with the experienced dealers and Rhino Linings staff.
