Held at BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance’s (BMA) Broadmeadow Mine in the Bowen Basin on Saturday, the competition tested the skill of teams in underground mine emergency procedures and recovery, first aid and firefighting.
The Moranbah team comprised Gavin McDonald (captain), Wayne Pate (vice-captain), Graham Fuller, Joe Martorana, Lee Brunker, Phil Starret and Stephen Douglas.
A Moranbah North spokesperson said that everyone at the mine was very proud of the team and the hard work that they had put into training for the competition.
“Our team has competed and won against the best rescue teams in Australia and they deserve to be congratulated,” he said.
“They have put an outstanding effort and a lot of their own time into training and preparing for both of the competitions.”
The victory follows the team’s success in winning the EK Healy Cup in August.
