The awards total $1,113,300 – $324,767 for a property in Woodward Township, Clearfield County, and $788,533 for a location in Coal Township, Northumberland County.
According to the DEP, E M Brown will begin the work in Clearfield County this month and will wrap up work by July 14.
Efforts there will include the implementation of an erosion and sediment control plan, the excavation of a subsurface drain of 1,720 linear feet, the grading of 219,300 cubic yards, the incorporation of 2,400 tons of limestone and seeding on 24 acres.
The Coal Township project contract was awarded to JBS Dirt; crews will begin that project this month as well and are expected to be done by March 9, 2015.
Work there includes the implementation of an erosion and sediment control plan, the clearing and grubbing of vegetation, the grading of 490,740 cu yd, excavating 2,050 cu yd for drainage, lining 1,540 sq yd of rock and seeding on 73.1 acres.
The DEP’s contracts were awarded on a competitive basis and are funded by Office of Surface Mining grants.
