Some of the topics up for discussion in an afternoon meeting held later in the month at Mudgee included aboriginal engagement and employment, innovation, contributing to regional communities, mine rehabilitation as well as the success of the NSW Minerals Council’s Voice for Mining network.
Hosted by Alkane Resources (Dubbo office), the group was originally formed by Greg Unwin – who was a former Department of Resources and Energy mines inspector – more than a decade ago and has now grown to 50 members.
Last year, attendees were given a tour of Alkane’s mine sites – including the Dubbo zirconia project which was granted approval by the Planning Assessment Commission earlier this year.
Activities at the most recent event included a mine tour, networking session and seminar. Participants included mining professionals and consultants, regulators and researchers.
