Gazzard came to the company courtesy of the 2012 merger with Aston Resources, with Whitehaven saying it benefitted from his extensive operating experience over the last three years as Narrabri increased production and the Maules Creek project was built.
“During the time Rick has served on the board, Whitehaven has achieved significant milestones in which Rick made a strong contribution at board level,” Whitehaven chairman Mark Vaile said.
“From the increase of production at our Narrabri underground operation to the development of our world-class Maules Creek asset, Rick has contributed to the success of these projects.”
Former Gloucester Coal executive and former CEO of CSG player WestSide Corporation, Dr Julie Beeby was appointed as Whitehaven’s replacement independent non-executive director.
“Julie has enjoyed a strong career in the coal industry and we believe she will add significant skills and insight as Whitehaven continues on our path towards becoming Australia’s leading independent coal company,” Vaile said.
