The report concludes that rehabilitation progress remains on track, and that all rehabilitation parameters are lower than expected, including the water quality, with many also registering below laboratory detection levels.
Successfully rehabilitating the site is considered vital to moving the site into the commercial phase, and is considered even more vital given the 300sq.km toxic zone the Queensland government says was created around Linc Energy’s Chinchilla UCG project.
Site selection and geological modelling assessment were used to select the location for the trial site which also meets the company’s resource requirements and economic evaluation.
In addition, its location away from prime agricultural land and well clear of good quality aquifers meet Carbon Energy’s environmental and social responsibility criteria, the company said.
