$26m reclaimer for Port Waratah

Staff Reporter

Work is underway on a $26 million reclaimer being built by VA-Eimco — part of Sandvik Mining & Construction — as part of the $345 million stage three expansion of Port Waratah Coal Services’ Newcastle coal loading operations. Design, supply and erection of the reclaimer is being completed by VA-Eimco after it was recently awarded the contract by PWCS.

Ron Douglas, PWCS general manager, said the stage three expansion of the facility, which would lift its annual ship-loading capacity by 12 million tonnes per annum to 89Mtpa, was scheduled to be completed in September 2001.
