Northern Appalachia mines produced 5 million tons, Central Appalachian mines 1.4 million tons and Midwest/West mines 500,000 tons.
"Most of our mines turned in solid results in January," said J Brett Harvey, president and chief executive officer. "As the record production from our Bailey/Enlow Fork complex indicates, we are doing everything we can to overcome the production shortfalls we reported in the first half of the year."
Northern Appalachia includes production from the Mine 84, Bailey, Enlow Fork, Mahoning Valley, Shoemaker, McElroy, Humphrey, Dilworth, Blacksville #2 and Robinson Run mines. Central Appalachia includes production from the Buchanan, VP#8, Amonate, Jones Fork and Mill Creek mines.
Midwest/West includes production from Rend Lake, Cardinal
River, and Line Creek mines. Cardinal River and Line Creek are joint ventures.
Consol said production at Mine 84 continued to be impaired during the month by adverse geologic conditions. Meanwhile, Enlow Fork Mine set a one-month production record of 1.1 million clean tons and the Bailey/Enlow Fork Complex set a one-month record of 2.1 million clean tons, the first time the complex exceeded 2 million clean tons of production in a single month.
