The port, which includes the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal and neighbouring Hay Point Services, exported 69.3 million tonnes of coal during the year.
This includes 40.2Mt from Dalrymple Bay and 29.1Mt from Hay Point Services. The figure would have even been higher if coal strikes had not slowed BHP Billiton production in Queensland.
The next two largest coal exporting ports were the Port of Newcastle (66.7Mt) and the Richards Bay Coal Terminal in South Africa, which shipped 65.9Mt.
