QCC was a leading supplier of innovative engineering, design and consulting services across the coal preparation, coal quality and coal technology sectors, particularly in New South Wales and Queensland, said Roche Mining chief executive Robert Logan.

"There is already a close association between Roche Mining and QCC," Logan said.

"The companies have had an alliance arrangement for the last two years, which has been put to good effect on the design and construction of the coal handling process plant at the Jellinbah mine in Central Queensland."

Downer EDI operates through its principal divisions Roche Mining, Works Infrastructure, Downer Engineering and EDI Rail. Total group turnover for the December 2003 half year was $1.6 billion.
