FTA points out that there is a clear correlation between fluid cleanliness and breakdown frequency, with a tenfold saving in machine failure costs possible if contamination is reduced. This means that fuel entering a system should be as uncontaminated as possible, which is where FTA comes in.
The company has developed a system to enable clean fuel to be delivered consistently to all plant, reducing particulate contamination by up to 95%, and capturing any moisture, algae or rust.
According to Ryan Fibbens, national sales manager at FTA, the benefits include increasing the life of original equipment manufacturer fuel filters by up to 400%, a decrease in costly injector system repairs, decreasing harmful emissions, increased fuel economy and increased horsepower and torque.
“Our diesel bowser filtration systems are widely used throughout the mining industry, with the system acting as a last point of protection delivering fuel of exceptional quality to your fleet,” he said.
In the longwall sector, FTA supplies a range of services to operators. Numerous sites have fitted JQ440F filtration systems onto diesel bowsers, with a reduction in particulate contamination of over 90%. These include several Centennial Coal and BHP Billiton mine sites, along with many other opencut and underground mine sites.
FTA is also currently working on further developments with on-board filtration and kidney loop filtration systems suitable for equipment such as continuous miners, roof supports and gearboxes.
