Among his responsibilities will be operations, safety, engineering and compliance projects for Twentymile Mine and its related Oak Creek, Colorado facilities.
With some 25 years of international mining engineering and operations experience, Lobb previously performed operations manager duties for Minera Argentina Gold’s Veledero Project in San Juan. Prior to that, he was general manager for operations for Drummond in Colombia and held several management positions in Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky and North Dakota.
Twentymile is consistently one of the largest, most productive underground longwall outfits in the US, producing a record 8.7 million tons of coal in 2004. Peabody Energy is the world’s largest private-sector coal company, with 2004 sales of 227Mt.
