The new system uses a fully managed, Ethernet-based communications protocol over multi- or single-mode fibre optic cables, along with a protocol-insensitive IEC Ex ia Group 1 Serial-to-Ethernet (UDP & TCP/IP) Protocol Converter. This facilitates the integration of a number of existing and future Ethernet-enabled devices such as VoIP phones, Web cameras, PDAs, fixed and wireless sensors.
These products will allow improved communication levels and personnel tracking in underground coal mines and improved data communication transfer and dissemination.
This will ultimately lead to increased levels of efficiency and safety, with the possible benefit of lowered infrastructure costs.
In addition, Ampcontrol’s Power, Electronics and Service divisions will display a range of protection relays, gas sensing, communications and monitoring and control equipment at AIMEX.
