The new system uses a fully managed, Ethernet-based communications protocol over multi- or single-mode fibre optic cables, along with a protocol-insensitive IEC Ex ia Group 1 Serial-to-Ethernet (UDP & TCP/IP) Protocol Converter. This facilitates the integration of a number of existing and future Ethernet-enabled devices such as VoIP phones, Web cameras, PDAs, fixed and wireless sensors.

These products will allow improved communication levels and personnel tracking in underground coal mines and improved data communication transfer and dissemination.

This will ultimately lead to increased levels of efficiency and safety, with the possible benefit of lowered infrastructure costs.

In addition, Ampcontrol’s Power, Electronics and Service divisions will display a range of protection relays, gas sensing, communications and monitoring and control equipment at AIMEX.

The Ampcontrol Group has sites located throughout Australia and has recently continued its growth in the international marketplace with the acquisition of Allenwest Wallacetown in Scotland.

The group has additional operations in New Zealand and China and is well positioned to meet market demand.

Providing innovative solutions to the Mining, Heavy Industry, Mineral Processing, Oil and Gas and Power Generation and Distribution sectors, Ampcontrol has the ability to identify client needs and provides a competitive advantage through vertically integrated operations.

With investments in power quality products, green technology and power distribution, Ampcontrol will be at the forefront of providing the world with safe and environmentally friendly power well into the future.
