The summit, organised by the Australian Journal of Mining, promises to address the most pressing issues for everyone involved in the underground coal sector.
Presentations that will feature at the summit include:
- Mining best practice – safety and health research projects in coal mining, presented by Department of Mines and Energy executive director of safety and health Stewart Bell;
- Installing a new longwall and extending the face, presented by Broadmeadow Mine longwall superintendent Sean Wood;
- Rapid roadway development, presented by CSIRO senior mining engineer Patrick Humphries; and
- Longwall weighting event – approaches to tackling geotechnical, strata and operational challenges, presented by a senior representative of the Crinum mine.
Other topics to be covered at the summit will include troubleshooting and streamlining longwall moves, technological and process initiatives in mining methods, waste reduction and insights into the recent floods.
