The entity’s line includes advanced work lamps and warning beacons for mining companies and support organisations, and as part of the line the company will offer replacement bulbs, mobile equipment and accessories.

“We’ve combined the expertise and innovative technologies of two great lighting companies, Hella and Milex, to produce a unique line of lighting that addresses critical mining safety and performance criteria,” said Hella Mining managing director Jim Grady.

He noted that many factors looked at by a mining operation when choosing the appropriate lighting were incorporated into the design of its line, such as long life, durability and reduced power consumption.

Grady said the lighting units were also developed with the knowledge that the end user would need the lighting to withstand harsh environments.

“We base our lamp designs on data retrieved from extensive research and testing on mining equipment in actual mine operations,” said Grady, adding that one feature is a homogenous beam pattern that creates a safer environment for workers no matter the time of day or distance.

Hella Mining’s line also includes Halogen, Xenon and LED-based driving and vehicle work lamps, signal and marker lamps and interior lamps, with many items designed to different configurations to fit specific needs.

The new JV’s executive and product management divisions will be based out of the Georgia office, while sales for the line will be handled through Milex’s headquarters in Nevada.
