The company released its updated resources and reserves statement yesterday, revealing that proved Acland coal reserves had fallen 10 million tonnes to 221Mt by the end of March, while probable reserves were up 95Mt to 295Mt, pushing the total coal reserves to 516Mt.
Acland’s measured coal resources have fallen 8Mt to 252Mt since the last update.
There has been no change to the mine’s indicated or inferred resources, which are 422Mt and 107Mt respectively, leaving total coal resources of 781Mt.
The Lenton project has total resources of 84Mt, including 47Mt of inferred and 37Mt of indicated resources.
Bees Creek has 9Mt of resources, all in the indicated category.
Both Lenton and Bees Creek projects are targeting open cut and underground resources within the Rangal Coal Measures, with New Hope saying they are likely to contain a range of qualities between thermal and coking coal.
The majority of New Hope’s exploration efforts last year were focused on its New Saraji project, which was sold to BHP Billiton Mitsubishi Alliance for $A2.45 billion in July 2008.
New Hope shares are up 8c to $A5.28 this morning.
