The Southland mine, in the NSW Hunter Valley, began production in November 2000 with a new pan line supplied by Long-Airdox,. This is the first Long-Airdoz AFC into an Australian coal mine. The supply consisted of 140 complete pans and the shearer haulage system.
A Long-Airdox high capacity AM500 shearer was also installed at the mine, replacing an Eickhoff shearer.
A new 1038 continuous miner (LA30M-3) has been supplied to Thiess Namoi, Glennies Creek colliery in the Hunter Valley, NSW. The 1038 miner is working alongside a Joy 12CM12 which has been operating at the mine.
Long-Airdox said it won the order for the 1038 against stiff competition from Joy and Eimco. The 1038 was selected due to its availability and based upon Long-Airdox Australia’s excellent reputation for after sales support and overhaul facilities, the company said.
