The takeover expands Kennard Hire's presence since it entered the region in 2011 to five branches.
The dedicated Access branch will stock a range of height and lift solutions equipment, ranging from forklifts to telehandlers.
Customers can also hire the biggest boom-lift available in Australia, the Genie Boom Lift.
It has a reach of 55m, which could be a game-changer for tasks or jobs that require reach, stability and safety, according to Kennards Hire area manager Trent Torrens.
Torrens will lead the Darwin branch, alongside branch manager Lisa Bretherton, assistant branch manager Wally Drescher, mechanic Dave Whelan, drivers John Bretherton and Patrick Bretherton and live-in mascot/customer service representative Ava, a five-month-old Great Dane puppy.
Torrens said Kennards was excited to be carrying on an already amazing legacy started in Darwin by Top End Access Hire.
"We're lucky to have the experienced staff from their team join us to continue the great experience and service customers are used to," he said.
"This is the first Access-specific branch for Kennards Hire and its specialised equipment range will cater to the growing infrastructure developments and needs in the NT."
Torrens said the availability of the Genie Boom Lift was industry changing.
"We're confident this will be a very sought-after piece of kit," he said.
