Processing Manager

Our client is a successful and well regarded international miner with an impressive portfolio of projects in production and at various stages of development. On their behalf we are seeking a highly regarded industry professional to step into this critical, newly created position of Processing Manager.

Reporting to the Group General Manager – Technical during the study phase, the key objective of the role will be to manage everything Metallurgical / Processing orientated through the development, commissioning, ramp-up and operational phases. The successful candidate will initially be responsible for coordinating the technical development of the design of the processing plant facilities during the feasibility study and FEED phases. The role will subsequently lead the processing department when the project transitions to the operational phase.

-- During the Engineering phases of the project the Processing Manager will be responsible for;

-- Managing the technical development of the designof the processing facilities;

-- Coordination and liaising between the ownersstudy office and the EPS contractor;

-- Incorporating the appropriate safety andoccupational hygiene standards specific to the design of the processing facilities;

-- Approving key deliverables associated with thedesign and Engineering of the process plant;

-- Ensuring that an efficient design is deliveredwith consideration to constructability and capital and operating costs;

-- Ensuring that operability and maintainabilityfactors are considered in the design of the facilities to deliver best practiceramp-up, reliability and uptime outcomes with consideration to capital and operating cost implications;

-- Identifying and managing test work programsassociated with plant design and Metallurgical aspects;

-- Development of the major wear materials andmajor consumable packages;

-- Developing operational readiness plans includingworkforce planning (recruitment, training, ramp-up etc) life of operations nationalisation program, procedures, Metallurgical accounting and reporting processes,materials preparation for start-up and a dedicated resource loaded plan forstart-up and ramp-up to nameplate capacity;

-- Assisting the Study Manager in the preparationof study documentation;

-- Progress reporting on a weekly and monthly basis; and

-- Managing work programs according to theguidelines set out by the Study Manager and GM – Operations.

We are seeking expressions of interest from suitably formally qualified candidates who can exhibit greater than 20 years experience in the design and operational management of large scale mineral processing facilities and who possess solid experience managing design contractors. You will have had exposure to state of the art mineral processing technology coupled with experience in developing countries and management of National workforces and have extremely well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of people at all levels.
