Conergy’s hybrid energy storage system (CHESS) is a plug-and-play solar energy system which it says is purpose-built to reduce reliance on diesel generators by up to 70%.

With scalable power output in 100 kilowatt increments, shipping containers can be connected in parallel to reach required power output, with additional battery containers also available to extend storage capacity.

According to Conergy, the system is designed to seamlessly integrate into power supplies at mine sites, production and accommodation facilities at both off-grid and on-grid locations and can also be operated as a stand-alone islanding application.

At off-grid locations voltage and frequency can be controlled to provide short-circuit power, fault ride-through and black-start capability.

“Solar energy generation is now no longer limited to only providing energy while the sun shines,” Conergy Australia managing director David McCallum said.

“Our CHESS system is a proven reality, purpose-designed to function efficiently either independently or working in tandem with an existing power infrastructure, providing power even when the sun isn’t shining.

“CHESS provides a reliable, uninterrupted power supply that will facilitate many companies’ transition from diesel to renewable solar energy.

“This outstanding breakthrough source of solar energy supply and storage, integrated into the overall power supply of a site will dramatically reduce operating costs as well as insulate businesses against the future volatility of long-term fuel prices.”

Adding to the CHESS system’s list of features are remote control and system monitoring functions which can be integrated into an existing supervisory control and data acquisition system.

The reduced transport and storage costs for diesel contribute to the high return on investment for the CHESS, while Conergy also offers financing options to avoid capital outlay.

“CHESS is backed by the resources and expertise of Conergy as a solar supplier of global scale,” McCallum said.

“For any organisation contemplating solar power, this means they are dealing with a single-source solar provider with the experience and scale to deliver an all-encompassing and tailored energy solution.

“Our three-step approach to solar installation will take companies from feasibility study through to operation and commercial management, including, where required, investor/capital funding and power purchase agreements.

“Our engineering strength and financial backing ensure hassle-free implementation and positive outcomes.”
