Sedgman has won two three-year contract renewals with Gold Fields and QCoal Group worth more than $90 million.

At Sonoma, Sedgman will continue to operate the coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP) until December 2017 and expects the contract renewal will bring in $70 million worth of revenue.

The CHPP facility is scheduled to process about six million tonnes of coking and thermal coal from the open cut mines located near Collinsville in the Bowen Basin.

Sedgman designed and constructed the Sonoma CHPP and has operated the facility since 2009.

Over at the Agnew gold project near Leinster in WA, Sedgman will continue to deliver crushing and screening services at the underground mines until September 2017 for an extra $23 million in revenue over that period. Annual throughput is expected at 1.2Mt.

Sedgman CEO and managing director Peter Watson said both contract renewals built on already long and strong relationships with both clients.

“Sedgman has been delivering crushing and screening services at Agnew for over 18 years,” he said.

“This is testament to the strong relationships we seek to build with clients and is a great demonstration of how we have been able to deliver ongoing value to Gold Fields during that time.

“We are seeing an increasing number of operations and operations consulting opportunities emerge as clients look for ways to further optimise their operations and increase the value in use of their existing assets.”
