Core Innovation Hub has completed its 12-month phase and CEO Tamryn Barker said there were plans afoot to build on its early growth.

Among those plans are further partnerships and a digital skills program.

Core has grown to more than 70 co-working and community members representing 40 organisations across the mining and energy sector.

In the past year the hub has hosted more than 200 events, attracting in excess of 5000 industry attendees.

Core is also building a global network of resources innovation hubs. It has struck international partnerships with Caterpillar Ventures in San Fransisco, Fundacion Chile in Santiago and, most recently, Station Houston in the US.

Core provides a physical co-working office environment, a network of innovators, curated activities and programs in a neutral space that lets operators, suppliers, researchers, entrepreneurs and startups connect and collaborate.

In October the Core working space will be expanding to another floor within its existing premises, the Flux building at 191 St Georges Terrace, Perth.

This will include extra office, meeting and event space and facilities including a virtual reality lab for Core members and industry partners.

Core’s foundation partners are METS Ignited, NERA, Austmine, WesTrac, Spacecubed and Unearthed.
