The first is Michael Todd, who will serve as the company’s Kentucky/Indiana coordinator.
The experienced miner and manager has held positions as superintendent, an analyst with the Kentucky Office of Mine Safety and Licensing, and, most recently, safety director in western Kentucky mines.
Todd holds Kentucky and Indiana foreman papers, his Kentucky inspector card, and both Kentucky and federal unlimited training certifications.
Coal and longwall veteran Harry Collins is the company’s Illinois coordinator
He has been a longwall coordinator, mine manager, production coordinator and safety director at various mines in Illinois, Indiana and Arkansas during his 33-year career.
Collins’ documentation includes Illinois mine manager/foreman papers in Illinois, Indiana and Arkansas, and he also has federal dust sampler certification and a federal instructor card.
Carrol Wayne “CW” Lovan, formerly GMS’s Kentucky/Indiana coordinator, is serving as underground coordinator.
In this position, he will spend much of his time underground overseeing various projects and crew leaders GMS has in place across the states handled by the Midwest division.
Lovan, whose career in the mines began in 1981, has also served as face boss, belt coordinator and production coordinator.
He holds mine foreman papers in Kentucky and Illinois.
“These three qualified mining professionals and the administrative team work closely with each other, as well as the regional safety supervisor, Tim Taylor, to provide customers with the safest, most efficient and productive coal contracting services available,” Midwest director Dave Jones said.
In addition to labor and special projects, GMS Mine Repair and Maintenance provides longwall services, workforce development programs and consulting to operations across the US.
