Davis, who is the company’s former general manager for Colorado operations in the US, will be responsible for underground operation and surface facilities of the mine and will report to Peabody Energy Australia senior vice president operations underground Neville McAlary.
Davis, a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University who joined the producer’s ranks in 2001, also served as operations superintendent at the Twentymile longwall mine near Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
He also held various mine engineering and supervisory roles for Peabody in the Midwest, western Kentucky and West Virginia.
Patrick Sollars has been selected to succeed Davis as general manager for Colorado operations and assume oversight for Twentymile.
Reporting to vice president of operations support for the Midwest and Colorado Kent Holcomb, industry veteran Sollars brings with him more than two decades of mining experience at Twentymile, most recently as the complex’s operations superintendent.
The Montana College of Mineral Sciences and Technology graduate has also held engineering, production and maintenance roles across the operation
The company has also appointed Marc Hathhorn, who is joining Peabody as a senior vice president of Midwest operations. Reporting to Midwest and Colorado group executive Charles Meintjes, he will oversee the producer’s five surface and five underground mines in Illinois and Indiana.
Hathhorn, an industry veteran with more than 20 years in international mining, transportation, infrastructure and engineering, will be based out of Peabody’s Midwest office in Evansville, Indiana.
Before joining the company, Hathhorn was vice president of mining operations for Drummond's coal operations in Colombia. He also managed the Santa Marta Port while with Drummond and served as mine operations superintendent for the Pribbenow mine.
The graduate of the University of Idaho College of Mines, Hathhorn’s experience also includes positions with Newmont Gold.
