The result for the three months to June 2012 is 21,000t higher than the result of the first quarter of 2012.
The estimated year-on-year increase in US coke production was partly driven by its new Middletown facility in Ohio which began operations in late October 2011 and produced an estimated 148,000t of coke in Q2 2012.
Continued strong operations at its Haverhill, Indiana and Granite City facilities also contributed to the better Q2 result.
Its US coke-making capacity utilization was approximately 103% in Q2 2012 versus 100% in Q2 2011 and 101% in Q1 2012.
The company said it expected its coke production to reach 1.6 billion tons in 2012 and to account for 18% of total North American coke production.
