The free and confidential tests take about 25 minutes and include a questionnaire, a chest X-ray and a spirometry (breathing) test. Blood pressure screening is also available.
The NIOSH testing crew will begin its travels on May 13 when it will conduct two days of exams at the Sunrise Coal Carlisle mine. On May 15-16 it will be at Black Panther Mining’s Oaktown Fuels Mine No. 1.
Rounding out the week on May 17 will be a trip to Triad Mining’s Freeland Underground and Freeland West Underground mines.
The following week also has a full schedule, starting off with the Lily Group’s Landree mine on May 20 and Peabody Midwest’s Francisco operation on May 21.
May 22 testing will be conducted at the Walmart in Princeton.
Five Star Mining’s Prosperity operation will host the NIOSH exams on May 23.
Wrapping up May’s schedule on May 24 is a stop at the Towne Plaza Suites by Marriott in Vincennes.
Exams will be offered from 7am to 7pm on all days.
Although walk-ins will be accepted, miners are urged to call 1 888 480 4042 to schedule an appointment.
Depending on the number of miners participating, some waiting time should be anticipated.
