During the quarter ending December 31, Mozambi Coal commenced a diamond drilling program at its Songo project, drilling a total of 1310m prior to the onset of the wet season.
The first two drill holes reached depths of 474.65m and 527.49m respectively, and a third drill hole was drilled to 308.44m before drilling activities had to cease.
While the company is still in the early stages of the Songo exploration program, results to date suggest the licence is structurally complex.
A revised model for the area will be produced and used to determine additional target areas for drilling in 2012.
Meanwhile the company delivered 17 samples from the Tete West drilling program to ALS Whitlab in South Africa.
Mozambi undertook an airborne geophysical survey over the Tete West licence which will be used to determine future activity on the project.
Mozambi is expecting a busy current quarter as it seeks to gain a better understanding of its coal projects.
“With the review and interpretation of data underway, and ongoing drill programs scheduled to commence after the wet season, we intend reporting back to shareholders on a wide range of activities during the first quarters in 2012,” Mozambi managing director Shiv Madan previously said.
Mozambi’s funds stood at $3.5 million at the end of December.
