The average daily output from a Russian mine is approximately 1,000 tonnes. In December 2000, the mine set a daily output record during mining of the first panel of 23,934t; which remains a Russian record.
Raspadskaya II's longwall face production in December 2000 reached 315,000t, which for a time was the Russian monthly record. On transfer to its second panel, the longwall further increased the monthly record, achieving an output in July 2002 of 350,780t.
The face length of the second panel is 250 metres with an extraction height of 4.5m. The complete Joy longwall system includes a 6LS3 shearer running on Ultratrac haulage, 2x870t roof supports, AFC, SBL, Crusher and Matilda, with Joy power pack and pumps. This system was among the first to operate at 3300 volts.
Commissioned in 1975, the Raspadskaya Mine is the largest coal mine in Russia. The mine hopes to achieve its budget for production of 3Mt this year. As of August 22, 2002, the mine had reached the 2mt mark.
