Staff moves shake up Peabody

Kenneth Wagner, a 25-year legal industry veteran, has been appointed vice-president and assistant general counsel. Working under executive vice-president Alexander Schoch, Wagner will maintain legal oversight for the company's governance as well as its Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) compliance.

Peabody went within for its appointment of Gary Kacich, who was promoted the producer's vice-president and assistant controller of operations. He will report to senior vice-president and chief accounting officer L Brent Stottlemyre.

Kacich, who has 20 years in his industry and 12 with Peabody, will hold responsibility for the company's corporate and operations accounting, and he will also manage the sales accounting, accounts payable, payroll and records retention areas.

Peabody also expanded its international trading and sales division Monday with the addition of David RL Barham and Scott Paul Knights to Peabody Coaltrade International.

Barham was named director of global freight trading in a London-based position, reporting to John Hanekamp.

With 14 years of coal brokering experience, University of the West of England alumnus Barham joins Peabody having served with GFI Brokers in Singapore, Clipper Bulk Shipping in the UK and Simpson Spence & Young Shipbrokers.

Newcastle, Australia will be the new work location for Scott Paul Knights, who has been named general manager of thermal coal marketing-Japan for Coaltrade International.

University of Queensland graduate Knights, who will work under Scott Twose, is a 17-year management, marketing and business development veteran in the metals and mining sectors. He came to Peabody from Rio Tinto Marine, and held positions in Australia with PricewaterhouseCoopers and RGC Limited prior to that.
