The company’s subsidiary AMFIRE runs 10 mines and four preparation plans and loadouts in Cambria, Centre, Clearfield, Elk, Greene, Indiana and Somerset counties, all of which will be transferred to Rosebud.
The Green county assets reportedly employ more than 1100 people.
The company will continue to operate two mines in the southwest of the state through another company, PA Services.
$75 million of the sale price will be transferred as cash, while the remainder will pertain to certain liabilities.
Rosebud is based in Kittanning, Pennsylvania and operates 22 mines throughout the state and into eastern Ohio.
Alpha’s shares on the New York Stock Exchange rose 5.33% to $1.78 on the back of the news.
