MINING MONTHLY INTELLIGENCE

Mining Magazine Intelligence Exploration Report 2022 (feat. Opaxe data)

A comprehensive review of current exploration rates, trending exploration technologies, a ranking of top drill intercepts and a catalogue of 2021 Initial Resource Estimates and recent discovery successes.

The report is divided into three sections: the findings from our first Exploration Survey with commentary and analysis from other leading providers of exploration research; a technology review; a ranking of top intercepts released in 2021, maiden resource publications, and then technical profiles of the 10 most distinguished recent success stories.

The survey of our global audience of mining professionals garnered 172 responses to a series of questions designed to test industry views on exploration-specific issues.

The Technology & techniques chapters reviewed different technologies and consultancies to present a library of the most relevant tools explorers need to understand to give themselves the best chance of discovery.

Opaxe, a smart software platform affiliated with research partners RSC, used its in-house algorithm and extensive exploration database to provide us with what it considers the most valuable intercepts, alongside Initial Resource Estimates published in 2021.

And, finally, we speak to explorers credited with recent successes to understand how they have bucked the trend to delivery discoveries.

METHODOLOGY:

We built the Mining Magazine Intelligence Exploration Report (feat. Opaxe data) with a variety of research techniques, along with some borrowed research data. At the centre of much of our analysis is a survey of some 170 industry professionals that we ran from early January until early March.

This was a broad-ranging questionnaire tackling issues from culture to technology, which we built in close consultation with research partner, RSC.

The Technology & Techniques chapter was assembled through third-party media reviews and online conference attendance, while we contacted companies directly responsible for recent discoveries to better understand their exploration approach.

Opaxe did the heavy lifting on our behalf to deliver the most impressive drill intercepts based on their in-house algorithm and provided all the 2021 initial maiden resource statements.
