Teams from Anglo American's Grasstree, Aquila, and Moranbah North mines, Fitzroy Resources' Carborough Downs mine, Kestrel Coal's Kestrel mine, and BHP Mitsubishi Alliance's Broadmeadow mine attended the training session.
The Underground Coal Mine Inertisation Team Operations program provides the skills and knowledge required by inertisation team members to operate the QMRS jet inertisation unit in response to a call out to respond to an emergency at an underground coal mine.
The GAG jet engine system itself is a custom designed zero-thrust jet engine with after-burner, coupled with an extension duct where water is injected into the hot exhaust gases. The system is mounted on a trailer to enable rapid deployment and operation by Queensland Mines Rescue Service.
"Queensland Mines Rescue offers comprehensive and thorough training courses that are challenging but rewarding," it said.
"With each course teams will join a select group of highly trained emergency response team professionals, dedicated to ensuring that miners always have a competent rescue team available with quick response capability in case of an emergency."
