According to the Western Australian Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety the 51 year old from the southern Perth suburb of Warnbro was not involved in work activities at the time.
DMIRS acting mines safety director Martin Ralph said investigations were still continuing.
“The incident involved explosives and is still under investigation,” Ralph said.
“Indications are that the deceased acted independently and was not conducting work activities at the time.
“The department can confirm nobody else was injured in the incident.”
The Yandicoogina mine has returned to full operations.
Work there had been suspended immediately after the incident while the WA Police conducted its investigations.
