China's number one coal producer recorded commercial coal production of 44.6 million tonnes for the quarter, up 19.6% on the first quarter of 2007.
Coal sales were 56.7Mt, up almost 22% on the corresponding quarter.
Of those sales, 4.6Mt was exported, compared to 5.9Mt in the first quarter of 2007.
Shenhua has actively been looking to acquire overseas mining assets in Australia, Indonesia and Mongolia this year.
Chairman Chen Biting also said that the company would look to acquire more mine assets from its parent company, Shenhua Group.
Last year earnings for the group were $US11 billion while profit was up 16.6% to $US2.9 billion.
Shenhua cranks up output
