China operator moves towards safety

It filed an application with the Coal Mine Safety Inspection Bureau of the province of Heilongjiang to receive the certificate for its Tong Gong mine.

Songzai president Hong Jun Li said that the distinction for the mine was important to the company’s future as a safe operator – a move he hopes other mine owners will make as well.

“Several recent unfortunate accidents from some coal mines have made producing efficiently with social and environmental responsibility vital to any company’s long-term success,” Li said.

“We [Songzai] are striving to elevate safety to the highest level possible by adding a new advanced safety facility, including installation of a full line of new surveillance systems, re-inspection and replacement of ventilation systems, and regular safety classes for workers.”
