A former general safety manager for Consol Energy, Chamberlin currently serves as chair of the National Mining Association’s safety committee. She is also a certified mine foreman in Pennsylvania, having worked underground in various capacities for US Steel.

Chamberlin, a mine rescue supporter, also works actively with several state-level coal associations.

In addition to her professional industry experience, Chamberlin is a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania and a graduate of West Virginia University’s mining engineering program. Her graduate degree, an MBA, was earned at Waynesburg College in Pennsylvania, and she received her law degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

Massey chief operating officer and senior vice-president Chris Adkins said Chamberlin’s new position is “one of the most important, exciting and challenging roles” within the Virginia-based company and that the operator is “very happy” she has accepted the duties.

“She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with her. We expect her to continue to build on our safety programs that we currently have in place and to help Massey continue the path forward with new technology in the areas of safety,” Adkins said.

“With her knowledge and experience, she will be able to step right in and make immediate impacts in these areas as well as our mine rescue teams.”
