Anglo American has launched a female only underground traineeship program.

The session runs from 5pm to7.30pm at the Moranbah Community Centre.

The company said it was looking for motivated women to build a career in the mining industry.

Multiple entry level roles are available through the Female Only Trainee Underground Miner Program to be run at the Moranbah North underground mine.

Successful graduates of the two-year program will get a Certificate II in Underground Coal Mining Operations.

Anglo American warns the roles are "physically demanding and will see you work up to 12-hours shifts".

However, it also says women who are strong communicators with a positive and safety conscious attitude should consider taking part in the program.
