Cokal's annual report reveals that its 60% owned subsidiary PT Bumi Barito Mineral has already awarded contracts to PT Harmoni Panca Utama - a major mining contractor with experience in Central Kalimantan.
HPU will remove overburden and interburden at BBM pits 1, 2, 3 and 4 as well as mine coal at the BBM pits.
It will also transport coal from the BBM pits to the run-of-mine facilities at pit 3.
"A separate contract is being negotiated with another company to haul coal from the pit 3 RoM facilities to the jetty site at Batu Tuhup," Cokal said.
Cokal is working with HPU on the operational and logistical matters, in particular the details of mine site facilities to be developed.
HPU will mobilise as soon as road access is achieved over the final 46km of the road from Bumban.
