QME expected to be bigger in 2000

The Queensland Mining and Engineering Exhibition 2000, to be held in Mackay 25-27 July, is expecting a record attendance of 7000 visitors this year.

 

Since the exhibition began in 1993 the exhibition, held every two years, has consistently attracted more visitors. The 1997 event attracted a huge 50% greater attendance than in 1995 and is expected to be even bigger in 2000.

 

Over 400 exhibitors will feature products and services for the mining, mineral processing, power generation, sugar processing and metal smelting industries. Held in Mackay, it is located near to expanding mining and resource developments in the Bowen basin.

 

"As a consequence it is rapidly becoming a vital engineering, technical and supply base 'hub' for mines in the Basin and other areas of Central Queensland," QME said.

 

Separate product pavilions will cover a range of areas including, mineral electrical equipment and supplies, instrumentation and control, pumps and valves, people and services in mining, engineering products and services, bulk handling & distribution, and computers in mining.
