The open cut mine, located 30 kilometres north of Moranbah, produces high quality coking coal for export to East Asia, Europe, the Middle east, America and India.
Thiess already contracts to BHP Billiton at the South Walker Creek coal mine near Nebo.
The latest contract continues a good run for Thiess, following on from a $227 million contract won in March with Xstrata subsidiary Hunter Valley Coal to operate the Ravensworth East mine.
