The new longwall block will be ramped up in mid-November after originally being targeted to start in mid-October.
“The delay has been caused by mechanical and electrical problems with the first two of the company's four new continuous miners," said Resource Pacific managing director Paul Jury.
“These problems, which are being overcome by the manufacturer of the new equipment and the company, have resulted in significant down time and have impacted upon the development of underground roadways."
The company recently received the four Joy continuous miners and eight shuttle cars after significant delivery delays.
“While this delay is disappointing, the mine's productivity will increase substantially once the new equipment is operating efficiently,” Jury said.
“Meanwhile, we are in discussions with customers to ensure we meet our supply obligations."
The company has also ordered a second set of longwall face and driveage equipment to make future longwall relocations faster and more efficient.
