Scheduled for October 9-11 at the MSHA Academy, the event will cover topics for both the coal and metal/nonmetal sides of mining, including emergency preparedness, risk management, electrical and powered haulage safety, and supervisory issues.
Aside from that, those in attendance may also choose from almost 70 workshops to attend. Some of the presentations on the itinerary for this year's TRAM (Training Resources Applied to Mining) include:
- Fall protection for the mining industry
- Safe behavior buy-in
- Providing assistance to small mining operations
- Refuge chamber training
- Tire safety
- Risk assessment
Also, as in past years, the agency will hold a training materials competition for those who develop training materials for miners and contractors.
"For 2007, the competition has been revised to more adequately evaluate the changing media available for modern trainers [and] is open to entrants from government, academia, and industry," it said, adding that it will have both print and non-print divisions such as video materials.
Exhibits will also be available for guests on-site at the MSHA Academy in Beaver, West Virginia where the gathering is being held.
