The new personnel carrier is powered by an 80 kilowatt, Tier 3 (Euro IIIA) mechanically injected turbo charged diesel engine system.
Industrea product manager Jonathon Coleman said this meant that “out of the box” the engine was rated to the most internationally adopted emissions standards for non-road diesel powered vehicles, which was also in line with New South Wales Department of Primary Industry MDG29 requirements to “use modern engines which meet American and European EPA tiered requirements”
“The engine system then has further technologies applied to provide explosion protection and even further reduced emissions to make it suitable for use in an underground coal mining application,” he said.
“Then when compared with the emission testing methods/requirements of AS3584.2, will prove to be cleanest to market diesel engine system. All sub 90 kilowatt Industrea vehicles now utilise this diesel engine system.”
Industrea has recently undergone integration of a number of its subsidiary companies to form five operational divisions ¬– Industrea Mining Equipment, Industrea Mining Technology, Industrea Mining Services, Industrea Gas Management and Industrea Wadam.
These new divisions provide synergy between product lines and operational services in key focus areas of mine productivity and safety, Coleman says.
“Also the integration has created rationalised manufacturing, engineering and service facilities, to provide the most efficient and cost effect performance levels for our customers,” he said.
The Industrea Mining Equipment division now provides a comprehensive range of explosion protected and electrically powered vehicles to provide “whole of mine transport solutions for the provision of personnel, material and production equipment”
The product range now includes longwall roof support carriers 50-80 tonne, 130t longwall shearer carrier, 50-70t mine dozer, 50-70t longwall retriever, mine grader, personnel transport vehicle, dual cab service vehicles and diesel powered gensets.
All of these products use Tier 3-rated low emissions engines as a basis for their power systems.
All Industrea vehicles in the power range greater than 90kW use a common CAT C9 explosion protected Tier 3 electronically injected diesel engine system. These products are also available as electrically powered.
The result for the end user is a fleet of clean engines, highest capacity fit-for-purpose machines with reduced requirements for spares inventory, and operational and maintenance knowledge, Coleman says.
The underground drill rig will see the greatest cross divisional synergy.
Designed and manufactured by Industrea Mining Equipment, it will be deployed by the Industrea Gas Management division for seam gas management.
“Further enhancing the product will be the specific integration benefits when paired with the market leading Industrea Mining Technology drill guidance system,” Coleman said.
