RL is a flat-proofing rubber liner for tyres on underground and industrial machines.
According to Marathon Tyres national business development manager Dean McGuinness, RL can prevent punctures and can be reused once a tyre wears smooth.
“It also reduces the risks associated with pneumatic tyres, including tyre explosions, and the dangers to personnel changing a flat tyre in an underground mine,” McGuinness said.
The Newcastle-manufactured system can reduce the chances of a cracked locking ring or rim components flying off it.
“The Marathon RL features internal honeycomb hexagon shaped holes that run circumferentially, allowing it to be repaired if damaged,” McGuinness said.
The RL was also designed to flex under load in the same manner as an air-filled tyre, cushioning the ride and maximizing a tyre’s footprint.
This allows for better traction, stability and longer life.
The Australian-based company will export the Marathon RL around the world.
AIMEX will be held at Sydney’s Olympic Park, Homebush, from September 6-9.
