The team from Crinum also excelled at analysing nine gas samples prepared to test the analytical capabilities of the equipment and operators.
The competition is open to underground mines using Simtars' Computer Assisted Mine Gas Analysis System (Camgas).
Simtars said the competition was well supported this year with eight Camgas operators from Rio Tinto's Kestrel mine alone participating.
While the competition gives mine employees a chance to test their skills, it also allows mine operators and Simtars to assess the competency of the operators and the equipment, and identify areas for improvement.
