Belt supplier Fenner Dunlop and Belt Service de Mexico believe it was their commitment to providing the most complete package in the industry that won the Micare Y Mimosa contract.
As a subsidiary of Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA), Micare Y Mimosa is one of the largest coal producers in Mexico.
When Belt Service de Mexico set up a contract with Micare Y Mimosa, they partnered with Fenner Dunlop Americas to offer combined service capabilities.
The most demanding applications within the Micare Y Mimosa facilities are the coal producing conveyors, and with their volume of production, dependable and long-lasting belts are crucial.
Fenner Dunlop believes it was their value-added services, such as surveys, complete conveying system analysis and belt recommendations through Fenner Dunlop's Belt Wizard program, as well as Belt Service's on-call field service, that convinced Micare Y Mimosa to go with the contract.
"Fenner Dunlop values quality, they value relationships and they listen to their customers," said Armando Garcia, general manager Belt Service de Mexico.
"A focused team effort, providing quality products and meeting customers' expectations, will win nine times out of ten."
Fenner Dunlop recommended Scandura's MineHaul conveyor belting for the most demanding applications. MineHaul is constructed of tough synthetic fabric plies vulcanized together utilizing eight versatile fabric carcass designs, with specially designed protective rubber covers created for mine service.
“This high performance belt offers low elongation, high fastener holding retention and excellent ply and cover adhesions,” Fenner Dunlop said.
The result for Micare Y Mimosa will be less downtime and a lower cost per ton conveyed.
David Hurd, Fenner Dunlop senior vice president of sales and marketing, noted that Fenner Dunlop/Scandura was the highest bidder, but technical expertise, manufacturing flexibility and professionalism prevailed.
"The contract involved supply of mining, industrial and PVC belting for their operations," Hurd said.
"Each and every belt will be constructed to precise specifications and will be backed by Fenner Dunlop/Scandura's technical engineers to insure maximum, maintenance-free life."
