Abigroup Contractors, Leighton Contractors and a joint venture between Thiess and McMahon were named this morning as the best three bids for the duplication of the 26.5km section of road.
The three bidders will now be required to submit detailed tenders for the project, which will also include building an interchange at Stuarts Point Road. The contract is expected to be awarded later this year.
Construction on the project is scheduled to commence next year and be completed in 2015.
Meanwhile, a shortlist of consortiums bidding for the contract to complete the planning and design work on the Woolgoolga to Glenugie upgrade of the Pacific highway was also released today.
The three short-listed bidders include an Arup and Parsons Brinckerhoff JV, a SMEC and Hyder Consulting JV and AECOM and Sinclair Knight Merz JV.
The Woolgoolga to Glenugie upgrade will comprise a further 31km of highway duplicated as well as construction of an interchange at Range Road, two overpasses and bridges over Corindi Creek and the nearby floodplains.
The contract is expected to be awarded later this year with construction on the project expected to commence in 2015 and be completed in late 2016.
