The opening comes as Aggreko seeks to drive growth in key sectors across the region, with Thailand pre-selected for its location and proximity to customers, both present and future.
Aggreko has traditionally serviced the region from Singapore. The Songkhla depot will assist the needs of customers in Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and Laos.
Its offerings will help customers meet their needs until improvements to energy infrastructure can be achieved across the region.
Aggreko regional director Asia Pacific Debajit Das said Thailand’s vibrant economy and proliferation of relevant industries made it the obvious location for a second regional depot.
His view was echoed by Aggreko general manager Southeast Asia, Kuah Boon Kiam.
“Thailand is the cornerstone of Aggreko’s growth plans in Southeast Asia,” Kiam said.
“We aim to build on the success we have already achieved to grow our customer base here and in neighbouring countries by delivering unmatched scale, depth and sector-specific knowledge as well as an experienced team that understands both the local and regional energy landscape.”
