In April the company announced that six objections had been received at the conclusion of the public notification process for the project’s three mining lease applications and associated draft environmental authority applications.
Of those six objections, three were from directly affected landowners, two were from remote landowners in relation to groundwater and one was from a community group.
In June one of the objections in relation to a remote landowner’s groundwater concerns was withdrawn.
The complainant and Bandanna engaged in lengthy talks and a “make good” agreement was finalised, leading to the landowner withdrawing the objection.
On July 21 another objection in relation to groundwater was also withdrawn after Bandanna struck another “make good” agreement that satisfied the landowner’s concerns.
Bandanna says it will continue to work closely with the remaining four objectors and wants to resolve the objections within the next few weeks.
Until the process is concluded, the company said the timing of the grant of the mining leases remained uncertain.
