Conveying excellence

Formed in 1990, the company was developed to service the Australasian, South Pacific and Southeast Asian mining regions.

Mato Australia predominantly focuses on providing conveyor belt fastening, cleaners and maintenance systems for mining applications, with a product range that includes:

  • Belt lacing systems
  • Belt cleaner systems
  • Ultrasonics and control units
  • Belt tracking products
  • Skirts and guards
  • Belt clamps.

Mato was founded in Germany in 1906, having originally started out as a manufacturer of metalware and hardware.

Since then the company has substantially diversified its product base.

Recognising the need to have a global presence, Mato established a strong international sales network with specialised subsidiaries in Australia, France, Spain, South Africa, Switzerland, the UK and the US.

The company’s range includes: primary belt cleaners, secondary belt cleaners, returns belt cleaners and belt cleaner accessories.

Mato’s belt cleaners feature polyurethane or tungsten carbide blades.

Its tungsten carbide blades are available in several grades of tungsten carbide, with the tungsten impact suited to aggressive products and belts or high speeds, while the tungsten long life is suited to abrasive and fully spliced applications but not suited to mechanical fasteners.

Mato’s polyurethane blades are also available in various grades, depending on the intended application.

These blades can be used in underground coal mines with their fire resistance and antistatic requirement, as well as surface applications with aggressive products being conveyed, or even in high temperature food processing applications.

Mato recently developed a polyurethane blade that is suitable for dry applications, with the blade incorporating a built-in lubrication element that reduces the occurrence of chattering when running on dry conveyor belts.
